Learner driver caught speeding

A 26-year-old learner driver has had her car impounded after she was allegedly caught driving 20km/h over the speed limit in Cranbourne West on Friday 26 April.

The woman of Cranbourne was allegedly driving Holden Commodore station wagon on Hall Road about 2.45am when she was clocked driving at 100km/h in an 80km/h zone.

Somerville Highway Patrol members attempted to intercept the vehicle but the driver failed to stop and continued travelling along Hall Road.

The vehicle was eventually stopped on nearby Scarborough Drive where police observed allegedly false registration plates on the vehicle.

The woman was also a disqualified learner driver at the time of driving.

Her vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1042.40 and she is expected to be charged on summons with traffic related offences.
