Casey Council has announced its 2019 Community Taskforce recruits on Tuesday 5 March, with 22 Casey residents set to convene for the first time later this month.
Four members from last year’s taskforce will join 18 new recruits to monitor the way in which the City of Casey’s Vision and Council Plan are being put into action.
The taskforce will also be asked for input on certain projects that will lead Casey to become Australia’s most liveable city.
Twenty-two members were selected from more than 200 residents who submitted expressions of interest.
When assessing applicants, Council took into consideration factors such as age, gender, ward, employment, background, place of birth and housing type.
The taskforce will meet for the first time on Saturday 23 March and again on Saturday 7 September, with support available for those participating, including translators, transport and childcare.
Councillors will meet the new members followed by an official welcome from the City of Casey Mayor Cr Amanda Stapledon.
Cr Stapledon congratulated the new members and said they were about to embark on a unique opportunity.
“The Community Taskforce represents a ‘mini Casey’ and is crucial for Council so we can ensure that our decisions reflect the needs of our community,” she said.
“This is another wonderful opportunity for the City of Casey to hear our residents’ voices, as they guide the direction of Council’s decision making and help make a difference as a community member.”
Council hosts a variety of engagement exercises within the City of Casey to ensure its decision making accurately reflects the desires of its residents.
