Pearcedale’s Moonlit Sanctuary has sustained its place as a popular tourism destination by taking out a prestigious state award.
The wildlife sanctuary received the silver recognition for the Ecotourism at the Australian Tourism Awards 2019 in Launceston, Tasmania on Friday 1 March
Founder of Moonlit Sanctuary Michael Johnson said the park was thrilled with their win.
“We are immensely thrilled to be the silver winner of the ecotourism category on a national level – this time, with the Australian Tourism Award,” he said.
“As a privately-owned Sanctuary, our aim was to grow awareness of the work we do towards conservation and endangered species recovery. We were particularly pleased to receive the Silver recognition as this category is reflects our values.”
Mr Johnson said their commitment to conservation was pivotal. “We do our best to position our standards to the highest level possible.”
“Our priority is to always give our visitors an excellent and meaningful experience and it is an immense honour to have our efforts recognised,” he added.
Home to more than 400 native animals including kangaroos, koalas, reptiles, birds and rare species, Moonlit Sanctuary Moonlit has won several tourism and conservation awards, including the Ecotourism and the Tourist Attraction categories at the RACV Victorian Tourism Awards last year.
The Australian Tourism Awards are the most prestigious recognition in Australia, placing excellence at the forefront of the tourism industry.
