Cranbourne Police are investigating theft of petrol from a service station in Cranbourne last week.

Investigators have been told a man drove a Holden Commodore to the Narre Warren Cranbourne Road service station and pumped petrol into his vehicle just before 4.30am.

The man drove away without paying for the fuel in the sedan, bearing stolen registration plates.

Investigators have released images of a man who they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The man is described to be Caucasian and short with dark hair.

He was wearing a black jumper with white brand logos on the chest and left arm, red shorts, black knee brace on his left knee and white socks with black thongs.
