Kittens, rabbits and guinea pigs at the RSPCA shelter in Pearcedale will be looking for their purrfect homes this weekend.

The RSPCA is on a mission to Clear the Shelters with adoption fees reduced to $29 for all animals great and small in care.

The promotion runs from from Friday 22 February to Sunday 24 February.

Clear the Shelter is running at all RSPCA Victoria locations and participating Petbarn stores.

Last year, a record-breaking 2,792 animals found their furever homes across the country in RSPCA’s most successful adoption promotion to date.

RSPCA Victoria chief executive Dr Liz Walker said the aim of the state-wide adoption promotion was to find more animals their forever homes.

“This promotion is all about finding homes for the animals currently in our care, and providing the extra incentive to people looking for a new pet to consider adoption,” Dr Walker said.

“We monitor adoption promotions carefully and have found that the price someone pays to acquire an animal has no impact on return rates and no negative impact on the animal’s welfare. All available research confirms this.”
