Teary-eyed parents bid their children farewell as they began their first day of school at Tooradin Primary School on Thursday 31 January.
Many of the preppies were all smiles, eagerly awaiting for the first bell of the day to ring to enter their classroom.
“It’s always such an exciting time of the year as the new students start their first official year of schooling,” Prep teacher Lauren Skitt said.
On their first day students learnt about their new classroom as well as participating in specialist classes such as physical education, art and Italian.
To ease their nerves, the school’s Pre-Prep Learning Links program allowed the preps to visit during the fourth term of last year to become more familiar with their new environment and surroundings.
Leading teacher Rachel Davis said as soon as the bell rang at the end of the day “children were tired but eager to bounce out to their family and share the excitement.”
“We’re all looking forward to a thrilling year of learning and adventure,” she said.
