Celebrate Australia Day in Casey

Go local this Australia Day and join in the community celebrations at one of the free events in Casey on Saturday 26 January.

Council is supporting four community events across Casey where residents can enjoy the free family fun on offer. Events will be held in Berwick, Cranbourne, Hampton Park and Tooradin.

Mayor Amanda Stapledon encourages residents to head along and join in the community celebrations.

“Australia Day is the perfect opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate all that’s great about being Australian; our people, our beautiful country, lifestyle, freedom and diversity,” she said.

“It’s a day to reflect on what we have achieved, what we can be proud of and acknowledge the contribution that every Australian makes to our diverse, great nation.

“Council has supported four community groups to organise free Australia Day events and a lot of effort has been provided by many volunteers to create amazing community celebrations, including children’s activities, barbeques, performances by local artists and cultural groups and much more.”

Council will also be holding a special event where the recipients of the 2019 Casey Australia Day Awards will be announced, as well as hosting our largest citizenship ceremony of the year where 250 people will become Australian citizens.

“Council is proud to be able to recognise our outstanding community members through the Casey Australia Day Awards and be part of such a special day for some of our residents as they become Australian citizens,” Ms Stapledon said.
