Transport pledge: Singh

Dr Tarlochan Singh is set to contest the Victorian state election as a Transport Matters Party candidate for the Lower House seat of the Cranbourne electorate.

Dr Singh, 54, is a Veterinary Surgeon and past president of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Gurdwara in Keysborough and Victorian Sikh Gurdwaras Council of Victoria.

Born in India, Dr Singh lives in Melbourne with his wife and two sons. He is a great advocate of and provides assistance to Cat Adoption Rescue groups and enjoys giving presentations on veterinary issues to local primary schools and in fact to anyone who will listen.

From his veterinary practice Dr Singh often hosts free family events such as barbecues to engage with the surrounding community.

Dr Singh believes the Transport Matters Party was the right choice for him as the founders of the party have integrity and are genuinely focused on people’s needs, especially as reflected in issues relating to community transport needs.

“People are put off by politics with the self-centred nature of some parties and their internal focus,” Dr Singh said.

“The Transport Matters party is all about healthy and happy families, which leads to greater national economic growth and opportunity.

“It’s difficult for families to be successful and happy when faced with critical gaps in infra-structure resulting in terrible commute times and long working days.

“The Transport Matters party supports investments and improvements in rail infrastructure, better linkages between public transport and high density living hubs and investment in bicycle infrastructure especially in our cities,” he added.

Dr Singh says there is a need for multi level parking spaces at railway stations to reduce congestion on the roads.

Improved facilities and lighting at railway stations and bus stops and a focus on improved policing has been pledged by Dr Singh, which he says will enhance security and use of the public transport system.

“Transport Matters Party provides the platform for like-minded people to envision an efficient, economical and more environmentally friendly transport system that allows people to succeed economically and spend more time with their families and pets,” he said.
