Ten youths arrested over crime spree

A male is arrested during the police raids in the South East.

Ten young people have been arrested over a series of alleged armed robberies and car-jackings in the South East.

The incidents occurred between 29 October and 5 November – including a Halloween spree that started with a reported egging in Hampton Park.

The spree allegedly spread to South Yarra, Balaclava, Cheltenham, St Kilda and Patterson Lakes.

Southern Metro Region Crime Team police conducted 11 raids at addresses in Narre Warren, Narre Warren South, Cranbourne North, Hampton Park and Elwood.

A 17-year-old Narre Warren South boy was charged with aggravated carjacking, aggravated burglary and theft of motor vehicle as well as other offences.

A 16-year-old Elwood boy was charged with multiple counts of aggravated burglary, aggravated carjacking, robbery and theft of motor vehicle.

Both were remanded to appear at children’s court.

A 22-year-old Narre Warren man was charged with conduct endangering life, aggravated burglary, robbery and theft of motor vehicle.

He was remanded to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 14 November.

A 17-year-old Hampton Park girl was charged with robbery and bailed to appear at a children’s court.

Six males, aged between 14 and 23, were released pending summons.
