Bowled over by $60K windfall

Cranbourne bowls club has high hopes to build an outdoor area after being allocated $60,581 through the community-driven Pick My Project.

President Chris Griffiths said the club was “pleasantly surprised” their project was picked which will include under cover seating and two large water proof shade sales.

“These areas will help to protect members and guests from too much sun exposure,” he said. “We currently seeking quotes for these works to be done.”

He added it would be for “everyone to enjoy not just for our members but the hole of Cranbourne community.”

Mr Griffiths thanked everyone who voted for their project.

“Our club is thankful for this great opportunity we have been given, and it will be a great area for the all to enjoy,” he said.

The grant was part of the Andrews Government’s ground-breaking program that gives locals the power to choose the projects their community needs.
