Join in the Ageing Positively Festival fun

The City of Casey’s annual Ageing Positively Festival will run again throughout October, offering more than 100 events and activities for residents aged 55 and over.

Held each year in conjunction with the Victorian Seniors Festival, the festival is a celebration of Casey’s older residents and their ongoing contribution to the municipality.

City of Casey Mayor Cr Geoff Ablett encouraged Casey residents to check out the action-packed program and join in the festival fun.

“Council, community groups and organisations across Casey will be hosting a variety of events and activities where older residents can get active, learn something new, meet new people and have fun,” Cr Ablett said.

“The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Get Social’ and there’s a diverse mix of events and activities for our senior residents to get out and about in their community and make new friends.

“Council will be putting on two feature events as part of this year’s Ageing Positively Festival, both of which are free shows at Bunjil Place.

“One show is aimed at grandparents and carers to enjoy together with their grandchildren to acknowledge the special role that they play, and the other is a celebration of all things Broadway, so book your tickets to avoid missing out.

“The Ageing Positively Festival is one way in which Council celebrates our older residents and works to ensure they feel valued, supported and connected to their community.”

Residents can claim free tickets to the two feature events of the Ageing Positively Festival, to be held in the Bunjil Place Theatre:

• Red Racing Hood

To celebrate Grandparents/Carers Day, Council is hosting a special event to be enjoyed with the grandkids. Produced by Terrapin Puppet Theatre, the show reimagines everyone’s favourite characters from the famous fairytale into the small town of Grinalong.

Date: Tuesday 2 October.

Session 1: 10am.

Session 2: 12.30pm.

• Swinging on Broadway

Take a trip down memory lane to an era when the likes of Louis Armstrong, Peggy Lee, Tony Bennett and

Ol’ Blue Eyes regularly topped the charts with Broadway toe-tappers. Melissa Langton will be swinging down Broadway with a mix of classic show tunes and some playful reinterpretations of more recent

Broadway favourites!

Date: Wednesday 10 October.

Time: 10.30am.
