Senior students at St Peter’s College in Cranbourne will go without a comfy bed to see what it is like to sleep rough – but all for a good cause.
Some junior students from the West Campus and East Campus will also swap their uniforms for PJ’s for a day over the next three weeks to raise funds for people experiencing homelessness.
The school is calling on the community to donate new or good quality clean adult sized, blankets, quilts and sleeping bags for Vinnies.
Small blankets suitable for children and babies also needed.
“We know that at this time of year Vinnies run dangerously low on warm sleeping materials,” said school principal Chris Black.
“Having a warm, comfortable bed to lie on at night is something most people take for granted but for many experiencing homelessness it is a luxury they cannot afford.
“That is why students and staff at St. Peter’s College in Cranbourne are asking for your help by way of donations,” Mr Black said.
Vinnies has seen an increase in the number of people who are homeless and with the nights getting colder, demand for blankets and sleeping bags is very high.
Donations can be dropped at either campus reception. To donate to the Vinnies Winter Appeal visit: https://winterappeal.vinnies.org.au/
