Here’s a show that’s worth every stitch.
St John’s Quilters in Cranbourne will run the 2018 Quilt-In and show on Saturday 15 September at the St John’s Anglican Church complex (27 Childers Street).
Organiser, Dianne Mitchell said a feature attraction will be guest speaker Jenny Bowker from the ACT, a quilt maker and textile artist.
Ms Bowker has spent over 15 years in Arab and Islamic countries opening up the world of patchwork and quilting far beyond Australia to countries that do not have a tradition of quilt making.
“Jenny, very deservedly, has also been named an Officer in the 2018 Order of Australia Queen’s Birthday honours list which recognises her work on Australia-Middle East cultural relations through the preservation of traditional arts,” Ms Mitchell said.
She said the Quilt-In was an opportunity for quilting enthusiasts to “sit and sew and get to know other ladies.”
The Quilt-In will run from 10am-3pm. Traders available on the day will be Patchwork Passion, Cranbourne and Craft Quarters,KooWeeRup.
BYO lunch, morning and afternoon teas will be provided.
Entry fee of $10. Essential table bookings are made prior to the event. Contact Ms Mitchell on 5995 9763 or 0409435769.
