Hampton Park fire brigade has been able to buy a high-tech piece of equipment with the potential to save more lives, thanks to the generosity of Bendigo Bank.
Marriot Waters Bendigo Bank branch in Lyndhurst presented a $1000 cheque to members of the brigade on Tuesday 24 July.
“In January 2017, we were approached by Hampton Park fire brigade to support their fundraising efforts towards the purchase of a Thermal Imaging Camera,” said Len Barda, senior manager of the Marriott Waters branch.
“We were happy to help so kicked off our support with a grant of $1,000,” he said.
Mr Barda said they also invited the CFA set up an in-branch display at the Marriott Waters branch where they could accept further donations towards the purchase of the camera.
“Last week the brigade contacted us and invited us to participate in some photos in thanks for our support,” he said.
First Lieutenant Chris Gomolis said the equipment which uses infrared sensor technology, was vital on a fire line for finding hidden hotspots more effectively.
“It allows us to see through heavy smoke and it picks up the thermal images of a person,” he said.
“It will have the ability to potentially saves lives and perform internal search and rescues more effectively.”
“We’re thankful that the Bendigo Bank and Cranbourne Classic Car Club who were willing to assist us in our quest.”
Mr Barda said the Bendigo Bank has been able to invest more than $4 million back into the community for a number of community strengthening projects.
