A little laughter goes a long way

It was the perfect remedy for a group of retirees who not only got a good laugh but welcomed some new facilities to their home.

Award winning aged care provider Lifeview Residential Care (Lifeview) officially opened its new 56-bed premium aged care extension to its Willow Wood home with the assistance of comedian and The Project panellist Tommy Little.

The extension to the existing Cranbourne home offers premium hotel-style amenities, whilst maintaining the warmth of home.

The architecturally designed $12-million extension features 56 new single rooms with en suites, a resident and family café with children’s play area and alfresco dining, an avant-garde hairdressing salon, tiered theatre/cinema, fully appointed gym featuring the latest HUR equipment, day spa, mini-golf green, man cave, and a sensory garden with an integrated sound and lighting system.

Lifeview CEO Madeline Gall says it “We are very excited to be offering this level of amenity to the local community.”

“Every element of this new extension has been thought through with the end user in mind. Common areas are designed to cater for all mobility and cognitive levels, including wide passageways, en suites feature sensor lighting, external areas are accessible to residents via automated doors, there are bed-side USB charging points, and display cabinets to the entrance of each room, just to name a few features.

Ms Gall said Lifeview Willow Wood has been an important part of the fabric for the past 12 years, adding it had been successful in terms of the quality of care, and award winning lifestyle programs it delivers.

“We believe this new extension will only build on the success of this home,” she said.

Comedian Tommy Little said he loved everything about Lifeview.

“Their staff is amazing, and their residents warm my soul. They are so full of spice and keep me on my toes with their razor sharp and often quite filthy, sense of humour,” he said.

“I’ve also never officially opened anything before, so this is an absolute treat and honour”, Mr Little added.

In addition to offering more aged care beds to the local community, the current home has been refurbished to ensure the two flow seamlessly.

The opening of the new extension has also created around 50 new healthcare and hospitality jobs for the area.
