Teenagers nabbed following shop theft

Four teenagers have been arrested after allegedly stealing cigarettes from two supermarkets and being chased by police on foot in Hampton Park on Wednesday 23 May.

A police spokeswoman said the four males also allegedly evaded police in a car and are linked to a number of other burglary and thefts in the southern suburbs.

Two of the boys got out of a car on Coral Drive in Hampton Park and were chased by police on foot.

A 15-year-old Noble Park boy was charged with theft of motor car, handle stolen goods and possess proceeds.

A 19-year-old from Clayton South man was charged with two counts of theft, robbery and theft of motor vehicle.

A 16-year-old from Keysborough was charged with 18 charges, including three counts of evade police, burglary, theft, theft of motor vehicle and other related offences.

All boys were remanded in custody to appear on Thursday 24 May.

A 17-year-old from Oakleigh South boy has been charged with two counts of theft, handle stolen goods and other related offences. He was bailed to appear at a children’s court at a later date.
