Quilting exhibition returns

By Brendan Rees

A quilting group in Cranbourne are getting ready to stitch up a good cause.
The St John’s Quilters will run its annual exhibition and raffle during a three-day exhibition in April.
At this year’s event from the group will raise funds for the Blairlogie Living and Learning Inc. in Cranbourne South.
The quilters will display their craftwork and quilts at St John’s Anglican Church in Childers Street, Cranbourne.
There will also be a raffle with one night getaway prize up for grabs for two people at the RACV Inverloch Resort including breakfast and dinner.
Member Dianne Mitchell said since the group was formed the quilters have donated $11,000 to Blairlogie
“With over 50 members, St John’s Quilters, Cranbourne continues to work hard bringing beautiful, colourful quilts to the public’s attention through their bi-annual quilt exhibitions and other annual events,” she said.
“Blairlogie have now partnered with the Wolfdene Foundation to build individual units for adults living with a disability.”
Ms Mitchell said patchwork and quilting enthusiasts would also have an opportunity to shop till they drop whilst supporting local patchwork shops.
The exhibition will be on display on Saturday, 14 April from 10am-4pm and Sunday, 15 April from 12pm-4pm. Entry is $5.
For those who fancy an evening event, Ms Mitchell encouraged the community to come along on Friday 13 April at 7pm-9.30pm.
The cost for Friday night is $20 with bookings essential. “This is a special night to enjoy a glass of bubbly and dessert,” Ms Mitchell said.
“Don’t forget to look out for Ruth Nunn from the Lions Club of Quilters Victoria presenting ‘The Journey Quilt’ and our Members’ Challenge displays.”
Tickets for the raffle and refreshments will also be available for purchase.
