It is a case of seeing double for teachers at Cranbourne East Primary School this year.
Five year-old twins Temisha and Tremaine and Minula and Minuki were part of 148 preps who were welcomed for first day of school on Thursday, 1 February.
Proud mum of Temisha and Tremaine said they were both “really excited.”
“They already started they came home saying they made heaps of friends.”
Early years leading teacher Jenni Kelly said the students had been eager to start school and meet their new classmates.
“We have a really good group who are quite keen to come in.”
“We had one little girl who was up at five in the morning, dressed and ready to go to school.”
She said few had been hesitant to start but added “they’ve been happy and settling in nicely.”
“They’ve been really relaxed and happy to come in.”
“We did have one girl who had her one day and said I’ve been to school, I’ve done that, I don’t need to go back,” she laughed.
Ms Kelly said they enjoyed a range of learning activities such as play doh, arts, construction, cars, dress ups and story time.
“We also have maths where they do a lot of hands on things so that will be a lot of cutting and pasting of shapes and learning numbers.”
She said the first week was always hard for the youngsters as they adapted to their daily routine and began full days this week.
“We will find they’ll start being a bit more tired.”
Father of Minula and Minuki, Sujee Weerakoon said the day was big deal for their family.
“They love it and will make plenty of friends.”
