Tradie triple-zero hero

By Brendan Rees

A Cranbourne West P-Plate driver who escaped serious injury after a car collision in Frankston has thanked her unknown tradie triple-zero hero.
Chloe Birch said she was driving east on Cranbourne-Frankston Road at about 8.40am on Wednesday 25 October, but cannot remember being involved in the collision near Ballam Park.
She recalled waking up at the wheel and saw a white car in front of her.
“I was going 80km/h. I woke up and people were everywhere. Smoke everywhere. I don’t know what happened,” Ms Birch said.
“I remember going past McDonald’s but then I don’t remember much after that. I remember my head hurt really bad.”
The 18-year-old, currently at Frankston hospital, said a tradie called triple-zero after he stopped at the scene to help her.
“I just remember a guy with tattoos. There was so much smoke.”
“I just wanted to say a massive thankyou to everyone that did help because I know it was outside the private hospital so a lot of those nurses came out to help as well.”
Ms Birch said she had been told she hit a car that was stopped at a red light.
“It was very scary. I’m only 18, on my Ps, very traumatic,” she said.
“I’ve got to have a lot of CAT scans and MRI scans over the next week to see what’s going on.”
She said apart from suffering a broken finger there was “nothing major” in her injuries. Somerville Highway Patrol are investigating the incident.
