Their educational best

Cranbourne East Secondary College has been announced as a finalist for this year’s Victorian Education Excellence Awards.
Minister for Education James Merlino announced the 28 finalists across nine award categories, congratulating them on their achievements contributing to education.
The awards recognised inspirational teachers, principals and support staff who got the best out of their students.
Member for Cranbourne Jude Perera said whether by inspiring young minds, contributing to better classroom results or delivering new teaching strategies – the finalists had positively shaped young lives.
“Congratulations to Cranbourne East Secondary College, who is up for the award of Outstanding Education Support Team.
“All finalists deserve our praise and thanks for the crucial work they are doing to give Victorian kids a great education, including the great work being done in Cranbourne,” Mr Perera said.
Cranbourne East Secondary College student services leader Debbie Edwards said: “The lifelong impact of Lift Off cannot be underestimated. We are seeing students with little confidence or interest in their education or future prospects being transformed by this amazing program.”
Award categories for the finalists included Outstanding Koorie Education, Outstanding Inclusive Education, Outstanding School Advancement, Outstanding Education Support Team, Outstanding Business Manager, Outstanding Primary Teacher, Outstanding Secondary Teacher, Outstanding Primary Principal and Outstanding Secondary Principal.
Winners will be announced on 27 October at a ceremony at the Plaza Ballroom in Melbourne. More information about the awards and finalists is available at www.education.vic.gov.au/veea.
