It was a dazzling affair for 11 couples of Cranbourne Marnebek School who made their debut at the school’s sixth debutante ball, on Friday 8 September.
Debutantes from Year 10 and 11 came together at Amberlee Receptions in Cranbourne and were presented to principal Kathy Weston and Australian music legend Molly Meldrum.
Event organiser and staff member Nicole Dinsdale said the evening was a success and the students were “amazing”.
“Molly was awesome. He is a friend of our PE teacher Russell Greene. It was not hard to get him on board and he was very excited to be asked and did a wonderful job of being presented to and then handing out certificates to all students who participated in the event,” she said.
Ms Dinsdale said the students practised their dancing skills for nine weeks before the deb ball.
“They danced to the Debutante Walt, Cha Cha and a Social Jive. Sam Baker, who is a leading teacher at Marnebek, was the dance teacher and did a great job. The students remembered all the dances, and all the family members who attended were so proud of the students,” she said.
“The students were very excited as were the family members.”
