A 51-year-old woman from Clyde North is the latest victim of the Victorian Road toll after being killed in a car crash in South Dandenong.
Police said the woman and another female passenger were traveling on the South Gippsland Highway at the Pound Road intersection, about 5.30pm, on Sunday 27 August.
It is understood her car clipped another car that was attempting to turn onto the highway.
Police said it appeared the woman’s car was pushed into a traffic-light pole before spinning out-of-control across the north-bound lanes of the highway.
The car finally came to a rest on the grass shoulder on the opposite side of the road from where is began.
While the driver was unable to be saved, the passenger of the car was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The four occupants of the other car were uninjured in the crash.
Investigations continue into the exact cause of the crash and police urge any witnesses to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
The state-wide road toll for 2017 now sits at 167 lives lost, down from 201 at the same time in 2016.
