Drugs, weapon charges

By Victoria Stone-Meadows

A 27-year-old Pearcedale man is facing a number of charges after police found a number of prohibited weapons in his car on Friday 21 July.
The passenger, a 17-year-old girl from Oakleigh South, was also arrested at the scene on outstanding warrants.
The young man was pulled over at the drive-through of the McDonalds at the corner of Hall Road and the Westernport Highway on the border of Skye and Cranbourne West shortly before 4am.
Police noticed a sword in the boot of the car and upon searching the vehicle also found a tomahawk.
The driver returned a positive result to a preliminary roadside drug test and police are awaiting the results of the test before formally charging the man.
He is expected to be charged on summons with weapons offences as well as drug offences pending the result of the test.
The 17-year-old passenger was bailed to appear at the Children’s Court in August.
