Potter night was magic

By Victoria Stone-Meadows

This week marked 20 years since JK Rowling captured the imagination of millions around the round world with the first instalment of the Harry Potter series.
What started as just 500 copies in 1997 has grown to sell almost 500 million copies 20 years after its original release.
The first book was followed by six more books and eight movies as well as theme parks, Broadway plays and everything in between.
To celebrate the release of that first Harry Potter book that spawned an empire, the Cranbourne Library held a Potter-ific night of witchcraft and wizardry.
With spellbinding stories and magical costumes, kids from all over jumped on the Hogwarts express and arrived at Cranbourne Library to enjoy a night of enchanted fun.
