True to their name, Pearcedale couple Glennis and Colin Waters have not let their age slow them down, having enjoyed swimming together for almost 25 years.
Now in their mid-eighties, the couple have been swimming and using hydrotherapy for many years and swear by the health benefits they have gained.
The Waters began swimming at the old Cranbourne Pool in 1992 when they were diagnosed with osteoarthritis and osteoporosis and switched to the Casey RACE when it opened in 2009.
Mrs Waters said the warm waters of the hydrotherapy pool at Casey RACE had been a particularly good addition to their routine.
“Once Casey RACE opened, we began using the hydrotherapy pool where the water was much warmer and we’ve never stopped,” she said.
“Our motto is ‘move it or lose it.’ We like to live an active lifestyle and coming to Casey RACE and using the warm water pool helps us do that.”
“It keeps us motivated to get out of bed every day and prevents our joints seizing up.”
Mr Waters said his doctor had noticed a marked improvement in his health since he regularly took up hydrotherapy.
“My doctor keeps telling me that whatever I’m doing to keep doing it as it’s working wonders,” he said.
Casey RACE Manager, Carly Sanders said anyone could try hydrotherapy as it was a great preventative and low-impact way to keep your body working well.
“The benefits cannot be emphasised enough,” she said.
“We invite everyone to try it for themselves and experience the positive impact swimming and using the hydrotherapy pool can make in your life.”
