The Cranbourne Harness Racing Club has raised more than $12,000 in three years for women’s cancer research following a successful 2017 Girls Night Out at the club.
The 2017 event raised almost $4000 for the Women’s Cancer Foundation on Saturday 13 May as well as supporting women’s harness racing.
As well as a fundraiser, the night’s feature race was the female drivers only Dani Lewis Memorial Pace, held in honour of harness racing driver Dani Lewis who died in a training accident at Cranbourne in 2014.
Racing Manager Cameron Gallagher said the night was a great success and everyone involved had a fun time raising much needed funds for women’s cancer research.
“It was a very successful event and we had about 170 people in the function with close to $4000 raised for the Women’s Cancer Foundation,” he said.
“It was a lot of fun and the dance floor towards the end of the night was something else.”
The night was made possible through funding grants from local businesses, the state government and the hard work of the Cranbourne Harness Racing Club.
