Builder goes bust

By Victoria Stone-Meadows

Commercial and residential building company Watersun Homes went into voluntary administration on Tuesday 28 February citing a lack of funding.
Neil Mclean and Mathew Gollant of insolvency firm Rodgers Reidy Melbourne have been appointed as joint administrators of Watersun Homes.
Watersun Homes had display homes in Cranbourne and Pakenham with many active projects in Melbourne’s south-east.
The administrators are seeking expressions of interest from parties for the sale of all or some of the business assets including active projects.
Ninety full-time jobs will be lost as a result of the administration process and staff from across the company were informed on Tuesday.
Property owners who have done businesses with Watersun can expect to be contacted by the administrators in the coming weeks and are advised to check their building insurance details.
Owners should be aware that there is domestic building insurance in place with the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) where a policy has been issued.
Owners can check whether a policy has been issued via the property search function at www.dbi.vmia.vic.gov.au.
Former employees were advised to lodge any claim with the Commonwealth Government FEGS scheme at www.extranet.employment.gov.au/feg or ring the hotline on 1300 135 040.
