Grass fire halts trains

By Cam Lucadou-Wells

Train services have been suspended as a result of a grass fire leaping railway tracks near Boland Drive, Lyndhurst.
Twelve CFA trucks and an aircraft were fighting the fire, which has been burning in a north-easterly direction towards wetlands since 11.50am.
A CFA spokeswoman said the 1500-square metre fire was “mostly contained”, “almost under control” and not threatening homes.
VicEmergency has issued an advice message for Lynbrook and Lyndhurst residents.
Meanwhile, Metro Trains has announced that buses will replace trains between Cranbourne and Dandenong.
Lyndhurst Primary School principal Greg Lacey said the school – which is only open to teaching staff today – had not been impacted.
