Vintage tractors bring the bling

By Alana Mitchelson

The Tooradin Tractor Pull and Car Show was on again on Saturday 21 January, with revheads and tractor enthusiasts crowding into Rutter Park Memorial Reserve for all the action.
An exciting part of the local calendar, the not-for-profit event run by a committee of community-minded people featured vintage tractor pull, big rigs, Show ’n’ Shine, and a classic car and hot rod display.
Other attractions included helicopter rides, amusement rides, live music, trade stalls and food outlets.
Tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of proceeds from the event were ploughed back into local clubs, schools and various charities.
Tooradin Tractor Pull president Allyn Reeve said the event was “very successful” and the turn-out was what made the day great.
“We had 44 tractors all up, 24 vintage tractors gave demonstrations early on in the day and we had about 4000 people through the gates,” he said.
“It’s a pretty big day for some people; some come out early and stay late. We had about 1000 people still there watching at the end of the night when we finished a bit after 10pm.”
Star News Photographer Wayne Hughes went along to capture some of the day’s excitement.
