A CRANBOURNE man has become an overnight millionaire when he shared in the first division of Tattslotto’s New Year’s Eve Magadraw.
The man in his 50s received a $1.3 million leg up at the start of 2017 thanks to his luck in being one of the 23 winners of the first division draw.
Cranbourne’s newest millionaire, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his 36-game QuickPick entry from Spring Hill News in the Springhill Shopping Centre.
The lucky winner said he has been buying tatts tickets for a long time and believes in the old adage ‘you have to be in it to win it.’
“I’ve been playing for over 10 years and you always have the hope that you’ll win the big one,” he said.
“I always say there’s no point grumbling and complaining that you never win if you’re not in it with a ticket.”
The mystery winner has some very responsible plans on what he is going to do with his winnings including the obligatory family holiday.
“I haven’t had much time off in my life, just working, working, working; I’ve worked two jobs just to get ahead so this will be a very good kick start for us.”
“First of all I’ll pay all the debts down, the mortgage and everything, and then I’ll take my family on a holiday perhaps one of the islands in the south pacific somewhere.”
Across the country there were 23 entries that won a division one prize of $1.3 million in TattsLotto’s $31 Million Megadraw on Saturday 31 December 2016.
Along with the division one winning ticket from Cranbourne, the other Victorian entries were purchased from Shepparton, Mill Park, Macleod and online.
