Armed robberies

By Victoria Stone-Meadows

POLICE are seeking the public’s assistance to find two thieves who targeted convenience stores in Cranbourne and Hallam on Thursday 24 November.
The pair of crooks first attempted to rob a store on Camms Road in Cranbourne about 8.35am, armed with knives.
The two males entered the store wearing balaclavas and demanded cash from the attendant while threatening him with knives.
The quick-thinking store clerk called out to a non-existent person to grab a gun from the back room and managed to spook the would-be robbers from the store.
The same crooks then entered a different store on George Chudleigh Drive in Hallam at about 10.30am, still wearing balaclavas and armed with knives.
The store attendant of this shop was in the attached residence when she saw the men enter the shop.
She banged on the adjoining door and spooked the two crooks out of the shop, with the thieves snatching a tray of cigarette lighters on the way out.
Anyone who may have seen or heard anything about these incidents is asked to contact Casey CIU or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
