Police urge public to call them

By Victoria Stone-Meadows

CASEY Crime Investigation Unit is urging the public not to be afraid about calling triple-zero if they see something they believe to be suspicious.
The call out comes after detectives arrested two young men from the area who have possible connections to the Apex Crime Gang.
The two men, one from Narre Warren and one from Noble Park, are both under the age of 18 and were arrested in relation to a series of aggravated burglaries and other property offences as well as evading police.
One of the young men had 58 separate charges bought against him by police but both young men were charged with many and varied offences.
Police captured one of the young crooks when his mother called police after he breached his bail-ordered curfew.
The second young criminal was extracted from a house in Endeavor Hills where he was hiding out from police detection.
Detective Senior Constable Angela Butler from Casey CIU said members from this gang tend to work in groups so it’s important people are vigilant of suspicious behavior.
“They work in a pack and go around stealing cars and doing daytime burglaries, using the stolen cars to conduct burglaries and evading the police,” she said.
“They don’t give a s***, they don’t care about their victims and don’t care about being out on bail.”
Det Sen Const Butler said police need people to report suspicious behavior as soon as they see it and not to be worried about calling triple-zero if they think they should.
“We need people to come forward and need people to be vigilant about security at their homes,” she said.
“We recommend people increase security because we have victims who are absolutely traumatised by what has happened to them.”
“Don’t be afraid to call triple-zero and tell police about what you have seen, it’s what we are here for.”
