TOORADIN will always be home to Olympic hero Joshua Beaver.
On Monday 3 October his former primary school welcomed its past student back to the school in which he grew up to share with students and teachers his experiences of competing in the Rio Olympic Games.
Through this sharing experience, Josh explained the thrills of competing, his preparation and personal highlights as a member of the Australian Olympic Team.
Josh, 23, spoke about his time at Tooradin Primary School, his experiences as the school captain in 2005 and the values that that have seen him succeed on the world’s biggest stage.
“I love Tooradin.
“It’s always home for me and to come back to the school in which I grew up is a special experience.
“I lived here until I was 21 so Tooradin will forever be home to me and it’s a place I hold very dear to my heart.
“I get back here as often as I can because it holds some very special memories,” Beaver said.
The students were inspired by their local hero who was once one of those kids who idolised sportsman and wanted to become an Olympian since the age of 12.
The awestruck students asked Beaver a range of questions such as “what are your plans for the future?” and “where did you sleep?”
A number of past teachers were also present to hear about Beaver’s passion and where his dreams have taken him.
Beaver said he believes in hard work, care for others and never forgetting where he came from.
