Call for our best

SOMEONE doing great things in the City of Casey is set to be recognised on Australia Day next year.
Nominations for the 2017 Casey Australia Day Awards are now open.
Council is encouraging residents to nominate an outstanding individual or significant community event that contributes to creating a better Casey.
Casey Mayor Sam Aziz said each year when our nation celebrates Australia Day, Casey celebrates the achievements and contributions of remarkable local citizens.
“The awards aim to recognise outstanding individuals and groups who have made a significant contribution to the Casey community in a professional or volunteer capacity,” Cr Aziz said.
“If you know someone who inspires you through their achievements at work or as a volunteer, someone who is community-focused and challenges you to make your own contribution.
“Or someone who exemplifies commitment, dedication and community spirit then nominate them now for these awards.”
Casey Australia Day Awards individual categories include: Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year and Non Resident of the Year.
Community event or activity categories include: Casey Community Event/Activity of the Year 2016 and Casey Community Fundraising Event/Activity of the Year 2016.
Nominations for the individual categories close on 30 October 2016, while the community event or activity categories close on 15 December 2016.
All eligible nominees will be honoured at a formal civic function held on Australia Day in 2017.
