CASEY residents planted more than 6000 trees in one day.
Locals turned out in their truckloads to celebrate National Tree Day on Sunday 31 July.
More than 300 people got their hands dirty at the Narre Warren closed landfill site to help plant 6500 native trees.
The big group of hands also revegetated the open space and provided a native habitat for local species, before firing up the barbecue.
