HOLT MP Anthony Byrne presented one of 24 cheques for groups in his electorate last week.
Reverend David Powys of St John’s Anglican Church in Cranbourne received a $4977 grant for a new audio-visual fitout in the hall.
Under the 2016 federal volunteer grants program, $100,857 were shared by 24 community groups in Holt.
The grants of up to $5000 are used to help cover new equipment, training courses, background checks and to reimburse fuel costs by volunteers.
“All the seven community groups that use the St John’s Community Hall will greatly benefit from use of the new audio visual equipment, and I wish the church all the best with all their future endeavours,” Mr Byrne said.
“I wish to congratulate all the organisations that received volunteer grants this year, as each grant is vital to continue to support the work of volunteers in our local community,” he said.
