We’re among the worst for workplace slip-ups

Casey ranks in the state’s top 10 for the highest rate of injury claims made to WorkSafe.

CASEY residents made more than 700 injury claims to WorkSafe Victoria last year, which ranks them in the state’s top 10 for the highest rate of claims made.
The region’s most injury-prone industries include health care and social assistance with 133 claims in 2015, along with construction at 120.
Last year Casey residents who worked in the manufacturing industry made 83 WorkSafe injury claims, which brought the total figure to 703, for one of the state’s fastest growing municipalities.
The majority of locals who had claimed suffered with musculoskeletal, muscle and tendon injury and wounds.
Lacerations and amputations accounted for 108 of the claims made by Casey residents.
The leading causes of injury were poor manual handling, slips, trips and falls and being hit by a moving object.
