CRANBOURNE road users will get a taste of the new surface on Sladen Street for three months while upgrade works continue.
VicRoads has advised traffic will be switched to the north side of Sladen Street to allow work to begin on upgrading the existing section of Sladen Street, between Codrington Street and Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road.
VicRoads regional operations director Michael Barker said that if weather permitted, road users will be redirected onto the new section of the street early next week.
“Which allows us to start concentrating on the existing section of road,” Mr Barker said.
“On the new section of Sladen Street, the speed limit will continue to remain at the reduced 40km/h and traffic will continue to be two way.
“It will feel different for people and we ask that they take extra caution when driving through the site for their protection and that of our road workers,” Mr Barker said.
The traffic switch will remain throughout winter, while work to remove and reconstruct the current road is undertaken.
The project to upgrade this section of Sladen Street is scheduled to be completed in November this year.
