IT was meant to be a trotting success, however the play on an old classic never got the chance to hit the ground running.
Casey council’s ‘Casey Rides’ horse racing event, in partnership with the Cranbourne Turf Club (CTC), was meant to be held on Friday 1 April but was cancelled due to insufficient numbers.
The day based on an old favourite, ‘Riding of the Bounds’, was set to give equestrian enthusiasts the chance to ride down the CTC straight.
Earlier this month, City of Casey Mayor Sam Aziz said, “The unique event allows riders to ride side-by-side with more than 100 other horse lovers and have the experience of a lifetime.”
The unique day was going to give riders the opportunity to take on different terrains before finishing down the manicured straight.
With 200 places available, City of Casey’s, Janette Green, said “the event was cancelled due to low bookings.”
The route would have been suitable for all riding abilities.
