Sick kids share Summer’s hair

By GEORGIA WESTGARTH

SHE’S four years old and has always wanted to share her hair with sick kids.
Hampton Park youngster Summer Vella chopped her long locks for the World’s Greatest Shave and will donate her hair to be made into a wig.
Proud mum Erin Murphy said it was a photo that prompted Summer’s interest.
“She saw a picture of a little girl with no hair, and asked some questions. Ever since then, she’s been talking about sharing her hair,” Ms Murphy said.
The kindergarten student has raised more than $1300 for the Leukaemia Foundation and didn’t blink an eye lid as the scissors sliced her mane.
“She was happy, she wanted it gone,” Ms Murphy said.
Summer’s hair will go to Variety, where it will be used to make wigs for children with alopecia and other illnesses that involve hair loss.
