Cranny kids help with Premier’s reading

By GEORGIA WESTGARTH

CRANBOURNE kids helped Premier Daniel Andrews kick off his state-wide reading challenge this month.
Students at Cranbourne East Primary School were joined by the Premier, Cranbourne MP Jude Perera and Education Minister James Merlino on Wednesday 16 March as they started their six-month reading challenge.
Participating students from Prep to Year 2 will be required to read 30 books, while students in Years 3 to 10 are encouraged to read 15.
Mr Perera said the initiative aimed to encourage children to read more books, more often.
“Reading is a vital skill and the Premier’s Reading Challenge is a simple, effective way for young Victorians to discover the joy of a good book, and establish life-long reading habits,” Mr Perera said.
“It’s great to see the enthusiasm that Cranbourne East Primary School students have for taking up the challenge to read more.”
