Salute to our soldiers

By LACHLAN MOORHEAD

THE members of the Merinda Park Learning and Community Centre will be the next group to salute Australia’s service men and women.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne visited the centre this month with local VCAL students, as the Cranbourne North facility received a $1500 grant to install a flag pole under the commemorative grant program known as ‘Saluting Their Service’.
Mr Byrne said the program was designed to preserve Australia’s wartime heritage by recognising the services and sacrifices of Australia’s service men and women, not just in wars and conflicts but also in peace operations.
“It is a great honour to congratulate the Merinda Park Learning and Community Centre on receiving this grant, as the VCAL Students and community centre members will now be able to hold their own Anzac Day and Remembrance Day services at the centre in Cranbourne to acknowledge the service and sacrifice made by Australia’s servicemen and women,” Mr Byrne said.
