Lame ducks

I WRITE regarding the boarding houses to be built in Brookland Greens (We Won’t Share, News, 28 January).
I find it quite a laugh how Casey councillor Geoff Ablett has got on board to oppose this being built.
At the meeting at the Cranbourne Turf Club we had the top managers from Casey council telling us their hands were tied, so what does that tell me?
Council is supporting the residents knowing full well they cannot make a decision to have this development stopped, making the council look good and Geoff Ablett look good for the next state election.
Liberal MP David Davis was also there supporting the Brookland Greens residents.
Remember, he was in government before Labor and they did nothing to change this loophole.
Casey council, knowing they can’t do anything, makes them look like lame ducks.
Where was this council for the residents when we had the methane gas issue?
Were their hands tied then as well?
