Burger blackout

By GEORGIA WESTGARTH

IF YOU’RE craving McDonald’s in Cranbourne, you’re out of luck – a fire which caused an electrical outage has put a stop to the burger supply.
And the golden arches are set to stay shut for the next eight hours.
The CFA was alerted to a collapsed power pole cross arm which caused a fire on the corner of Camms Road and the South Gippsland Highway at 11.50am on Wednesday 20 January.
Wires were hanging dangerously from the pole and police were seen diverting traffic off Camms Road. One lane on the South Gippsland Highway was closed.
Cranbourne McDonald’s manager Trent Beard said the restaurant was likely to re-open at around 9pm on Wednesday evening.
“The power went out at about 12.30pm and the whole store is offline – we closed the drive-through off with milk crates but unfortunately people are still coming inside the store to order,” Mr Beard said.
Two CFA crews from Cranbourne and Dandenong were called to the electrical fire and the CFA left the scene at 1pm.
A CFA spokeswoman said CFA members left a power company representative at the site.
