Celebrate the pride

AUSTRALIA Day celebrations will be dotted across Casey this year.
Events held at Tooradin, Berwick, Hampton Park, Cranbourne and Doveton, with support of the Casey council, will be free on Tuesday 26 January.
City of Casey Mayor Sam Aziz said Australia Day was the perfect opportunity for residents to come together and celebrate why it’s great to be Australian.
“There will be fun festivities where residents can simply celebrate the Aussie spirit by enjoying some free live entertainment, fun activities, food stalls and performances,” Cr Aziz said.
Formal Casey Australia Day Awards and flag raising and citizenship ceremonies will also be held on the day of national pride.
Cr Aziz said the day’s get-togethers provided a great opportunity celebrate what it means to be an Australian.
“The people, the places, our cultural diversity and our wonderful way of life,” he said.
“Residents can head along to Pioneers Park in Berwick to see whipcracking, a vintage machinery display and have a ride on a horse and carriage.
“Or residents might like to join the community celebrations in Hampton Park or Doveton featuring free barbecues, multicultural entertainment, face painting and children’s amusements.”
