Dinosaurs pack in the Christmas crowds

By GEORGIA WESTGARTH

A BACKYARD in Casey resembles that of a Jurassic park movie scene – with a festive edge.
In the heart of Devon Meadows lies one green meadow full of crystals, fossils, minerals, meteorites and dinosaurs pulling Santa’s sleigh.
The two sizeable allosaurus dinosaurs that could rival T-Rex along with many other prehistoric creatures are now on show at Crystal World.
Hailing from the National Dinosaur Museum in Canberra the fibreglass dino’s are extremely lifelike according to geologist and botanist Tom Kapitany.
Crystal World owner Mr Kapitany said his prehistoric friends were around five years old and had been a big hit so far with shoppers.
“Visitors can take a photo and a walk through the dinosaurs for a dollar coin donation,” he said.
“There are a whole range of dinosaurs here of different sizes but the allosaurus who is filling in for Santa’s reindeer are high speed, rapid moving creatures – with great pulling power.”
The dinosaurs are first time visitors to Crystal World and would normally be on display at the National Dinosaur Museum which holds Australia’s largest permanent display of dinosaur and prehistoric fossil material in Australia.
