Gang up to no good

By GEORGIA WESTGARTH

THEY’RE a criminal gang of young people stealing cars and breaking into Casey homes and they share a name with an 84-year-old Australian icon – volunteer community service organisation, Apex.
Calling themselves the ‘Apex Gang’ for reasons unknown, the group which has engaged in numerous criminal activity over the course of this year shares nothing in common with the namesake.
Community minded Apex Australia is an organisation passionate about helping youths make a positive difference while the gang of youths allegedly aged 15 to 25 are doing the community nothing but a disservice.
While Apex Australia’s motto is one of ‘fun, fellowship and friendship’ the south-east Apex Gang are for joy rides, armed robberies and home invasions – which makes for an unfortunate connection in branding but one that shares no affiliation with the other.
