THE City of Casey has joined the world’s largest treasure hunt.
With two million geocaches worldwide Casey Fields was one of Victoria’s main destinations over the weekend.
Launching the Melbourne adventure in Casey on Sunday 15 November, Cr Geoff Ablett said the digital orienteering is a fantastic innovative addition to the municipality.
“More than 1000 people visited Casey Fields to get involved in what is sure to be the largest geocaching event held in the Southern Hemisphere,” Cr Ablett said.
The fascinating form of exploration starts by downloading the free geocaching app on a mobile device and following the GPS navigation to find the geocaches.
On the weekend participants had the opportunity to engage in canoeing, kayaking and tree climbing all while navigating using the provided co-ordinates.
