Crews busting to the beat

SOME of Casey’s best hip-hop crews are getting ready to dance their hearts out later this month.
The stage is set for this year’s Fired Up! Hip Hop Tournament, to be held on Saturday 21 November at the Berwick Church of Christ.
The tournament will see hip-hop crews, break-dancers and beat boxers from all over Casey compete for top billing.
“This event provides new and upcoming dance crews and beat boxers with the opportunity to showcase their talents and battle it out for some great prizes,” Casey mayor Sam Aziz said.
“There are 17 crews entered in the urban choreography divisions, and the breakdancing and beat boxing registrations will be accepted on the event day, with an under-18 division and over-18 division.”
International crew and 2013/14 champions FMD Xtreme will be the guest performers at the event, while the energetic Yung Philly will be the MC.
“The council has supported a group of young volunteers to organise this event, so by coming along you are also supporting their fantastic efforts as well as the performers set to take to the stage,” Cr Aziz said.
Registrations for the break-dancing and beat boxing categories open at 12.30pm and the competition will run from 1pm to 4.30pm.
Tickets are $5 for all ages to watch these sections.
The urban choreography divisions will run from 5pm to 9pm.
Tickets to watch these sections, which also provide entry to the break-dancing and beat boxing for free, cost $15 for adults, $10 for children and under three-years are free.
Tickets are available online at www.trybooking.com/ILXT or at the door, subject to availability.
