Morrison weighs in on ‘do-gooder’ assembly

FEDERAL Treasurer Scott Morrison has weighed into the Cranbourne Carlisle Primary School debate this morning calling the school the “muppet of the year” for allowing some Muslim students to be excused from singing the national anthem.
In an interview with 3AW this morning, Mr Morrison described the school’s decision as “just pathetic” and a “do-gooder” act.
The principal of Cranbourne Carlisle Primary and the State Government have strongly defended the school’s decision to allow its Muslim students the choice to leave the Years 2-6 assembly, citing an Islamic month of mourning – Muharram.
Mr Morrison said the stance was offensive to many Australians, including Muslims.
